At Chicago Signs we create a lot of custom signs for various businesses and events. There are many different materials and ways of printing that you can employ, and for these valet parking signs for some West Loop restaurants we went with the method of direct printing onto 3mm PVC boards. We talked with the client and figured out that these signs would be moved and handled a lot, so instead of printing and laminating vinyl onto the PVC sheets, which could in time peel up at the corners with the frequent handling, we decided to have their signs printed directly onto the surface of the boards. We talked our clients through their various lightweight options, including vinyl printed PVC signs, directly printed PVC signs, and 6mm coroplast signs, to best fit their needs. A local valet company needed some stickers cut out to be applied to street signs for outdoor use, so we quickly turned around this batch for them. After setting up the file to match what they needed, we cut the letters out of our vivid blue vinyl with our plotter, weeded out the waste until just the image we wanted was left and applied masking to the top.
